White polycarbonate films

In our wide range of polycarbonate films we also offer white PC films. The great advantage of these films is a higher opacity, which is required for certain applications.

The König Film Centre offers a wide range of polycarbonate films in white colour of the following brands:

  • Lexan ® (from the manufacturer Sabic ®).
  • Makrofol ® (from the manufacturer Covestro ®).

We offer white films in thicknesses from 250 µm to 750 µm. The white PC films have no protective film.

We keep all products in stock as rolls. We are happy to cut the rolls into narrow or short rolls or rectangular sheets in the format you require. Just tell us the required format and we will send you an attractive offer. All products in stock can be shipped within a few working days. For a safe delivery, we use a high-quality and secure packaging.

Properties of white polycarbonate films

White PC films have basically the same technical properties as conventional colourless polycarbonate films:

  • Impact resistance and mechanical strength.
  • Temperature resistance from - 40 °C to 130 °C (continuous use at 105 °C).
  • High dimensional stability.
  • Excellent insulating properties.

However, they differ in colour and opacity from colourless films.

Characteristics of white polycarbonate films

For white films, we distinguish between opaque films with a high opacity and opal, translucent films.

Opaque films are particularly interesting for applications that require high opacity. Due to special pigments, these films allow almost no light to shine through.

Translucent PC films, on the other hand, allow light to shine through and do not have absolute opacity. These opal films are interesting for a homogeneous light diffusion and are used in high-quality lighting applications in industry or the production of lamps. We offer various light diffusion films with different diffusion values. Please contact us for detailed advice!

Applications of white polycarbonate films

White polycarbonate films are easy to process and are suitable for various applications such as:

  • Front panels with high opacity
  • Labels and overlays
  • Keypads and membrane keyboards
  • Operating elements
  • Covers and type plates for machines
  • Interior parts for automobiles
  • Insulation of power supplies / batteries
  • Printed circuit boards
  • Diffusion of LED light
  • Backlit indicators, displays and switches
  • Luminaires and lampshades
  • Illuminated advertising
  • Diffusion of light from different light sources

FAQ

What are white polycarbonate films?

White polycarbonate films are high-quality plastic films with high opacity or translucency. They combine impact resistance, temperature resistance and dimensional stability and are used for applications that require light diffusion or coverage, such as displays, front panels or LED lights.

What material are white polycarbonate films made from?

White polycarbonate films are made of polycarbonate (PC), a thermoplastic known for its high mechanical strength, impact resistance and temperature resistance. Well-known brands include Lexan® from Sabic® and Makrofol® from Covestro®.

What are the characteristics of white polycarbonate films?

White polycarbonate films are characterised by high impact strength, temperature resistance from -40 °C to 130 °C, excellent dimensional stability and good insulating properties. They are easy to process and, depending on the type, opaque or translucent for homogeneous light diffusion.

What are the typical applications of white polycarbonate films?

Typical applications include backlit displays, front panels, keypads, control elements, machine covers, luminaires, LED light diffusion, illuminated advertising, privacy films and printed circuit boards.

In what thicknesses and formats are white polycarbonate films available?

White polycarbonate films are available in thicknesses from 0.25 mm to 0.75 mm and can be supplied in rolls or in cut-to-size formats. Widths are usually between 1000 mm and 1220 mm, but customized sheets are possible.

What are the differences between opaque and translucent white polycarbonate films?

Opaque sheets, e.g. Lexan®, block almost all light and offer high opacity. Translucent sheets, such as Makrofol®, allow light to pass through and ensure even light diffusion. The choice depends on the desired lighting effect and application.

What surfaces and structures are available for white polycarbonate films?

Lexan® films are available in velvety matt/dull matt or fine matt/polished. Makrofol® is glossy on one side and finely matted on the other. The surfaces influence light diffusion, printability and feel, depending on the area of application.

Are white polycarbonate films printable or mouldable?

Yes, white polycarbonate films are easy to print on and thermally mould. This enables the production of labels, overlays, keyboard panels or customised moulded parts for industrial and household appliances.
