High performance films

What are high performance films?
For us high-performance films are high-quality technical films with special properties and features that distinguish them from conventional films. Such properties are an elevated chemical resistance, scratch and heat resistance and UV stability for maximum safety for your application. This makes our performance products unique in certain respects and particularly suitable for certain areas of application in almost every industry.
The König Film Centre offers you high-performance plastic film products made of the following materials:
- Fluoropolymer Films Teflon™ and Tefzel™
- PEI films (made of Ultem 1000®)
- Polycarbonate films ® (Lexan® and Makrofol® brand)
- PMMA films (Plexiglas® brand)
- PBT films (Valox® and Bayfol® brand)
We supply all plastic products as rolls in different widths or in rectangular sheets / formats – already in small quantities. Please ask us for the required format and we will provide you with a suitable offer for our security film. We will also be happy to answer any further questions you may have on the subject of products, packaging and delivery.

Properties of high performance films
Our high-performance plastic film materials stand out due to their properties and can therefore be used for especially demanding applications in your industry:
High Performance films with chemical resistance
Teflon™ and Tefzel™ fluoropolymer films are high-performance films that are extremely resistant to chemicals. These films are chemically inert and solvent-resistant to virtually all chemicals. They also have low permeability to liquids, gases, acetic acids, moisture and organic vapours.
However, other films also have good chemical resistance. With the Bayfol and Valox quality products, we have special film materials made from a mixture of PBT (polybutylene terephthalate) and PC (polycarbonate) with a great chemical resistance. The special composition makes the films particularly resistant to a contact with chemical ingredients and provide an ideal protection. These films are interesting for all applications where cleaning with special agents is required. Please note that the chemical resistance to and protection against cleaning agents must be tested in each individual case.
Films with increased heat resistance for an increased temperature
Do you need products with particularly high protection against an elevated temperature (heat rejection) for your application? We have solutions for a wide range of temperature ranges. Fluoropolymer films from the Teflon™ and Tefzel™ brands are particularly stable and can be used for applications with temperatures of up to 260 °C. The PEI (polyetherimide) high-performance film made of Ultem 1000 material is another alternative for temperatures up to approx. 200 °C.
Scratch-resistant performance films
For some applications, a scratch-resistant plastic film is recommended or required. With the polycarbonate film Lexan HP 92 S, the König Film Centre offers you a solution with protection against particularly high mechanical impact and longer durability. This security film is impact-resistant and tear-proof and provides and enhances security and protection. A coating on the film makes this high-performance film enormously scratch-resistant. Lexan HP 92 S is printable from the other side, so that individual designs are possible by printing on the reverse side.
UV-stable performance films with longer durability
Most technical films do not offer good UV stability and are therefore not suitable for outdoor use, or only to a very limited extent. We also offer several solutions for this. Fluoropolymer films from Teflon™ and Tefzel™ are our highest quality materials in this regard. However, PMMA films from Plexiglas also offer excellent resistance to UV exposure and are well suited for outdoor use.
Another solution is the Makrofol UV 244 polycarbonate film, which combines the advantages of a polycarbonate film with protection against UV and solar. This glass clear film product is therefore also suitable for a wide range of outdoor or light scattering and reflective usages.

FAQ
What are high-performance films?
High-performance films are special technical films with particularly high properties, such as chemical resistance, temperature stability, scratch resistance and UV stability. They are suitable for demanding applications where conventional films are not sufficient.
What material are high-performance films made from?
High-performance films are made from materials such as fluoropolymers (FEP, PFA, ETFE), PEI (Ultem), polycarbonate (Lexan®, Makrofol®), PMMA (Plexiglas®) or PBT-PC blends, which are chemically, temperature or UV resistant depending on the requirements.
What are the characteristics of high-performance films?
High-performance films offer exceptional stability against chemicals, heat, scratches and UV rays. They are impact-resistant, tear-resistant, printable and, in some cases, self-adhesive. Each film has specific properties for its respective area of application.
What are typical applications for high-performance films?
High-performance films are used for membrane keyboards, membrane switches, front panels, insulation, high heat-resistant adhesive tapes, labels, transformer windings, digital printing applications and high-quality packaging. Outdoor applications require UV-stable variants.
In what thicknesses and formats are high-performance films available?
High-performance films are available in rolls of various widths or as rectangular cut-to-size sheets. They are offered in different thicknesses, surfaces, colours, matt or glossy, to suit industrial and individual requirements.
How can high-performance films be processed?
Our high-performance films can be cut, punched, lasered, glued, deep-drawn or printed, depending on the material. Many films are suitable for digital printing or can be made self-adhesive, enabling a wide range of industrial and creative applications.
Which high-performance films are particularly resistant to chemicals?
FEP and PFA films from the Teflon™ and Tefzel™ brands are chemically inert and solvent-resistant. PBT-PC composite films such as Bayfol® and Valox® also offer high resistance to cleaning agents and chemicals, making them ideal for laboratory and industrial applications.
Which high-performance films are temperature-stable?
Fluoropolymer films and PEI (Ultem 1000®) films can withstand temperatures of up to 260 °C and 200 °C respectively. They are suitable for applications with high thermal loads, such as insulation, transformer windings or heat-resistant adhesive tapes.
Which high-performance films are UV-stable?
UV-stable films include Teflon™, Tefzel™, PMMA (Plexiglas®) and Makrofol UV 244. They are suitable for outdoor applications, offer long-term durability against sunlight and prevent yellowing or material degradation due to UV radiation.
