Polycarbonate films with chemical resistance
The König Film Centre is active in the field of technical films for over 10 years and is a specialist in this product area. As part of our product range, we offer special films with particular properties.
These include films with a high resistance to chemical alkalis of the brand Bayfol ® (from the manufacturer Covestro ®).
A special mixture of polycarbonate with polyester makes Bayfol products obtain a surface that is particularly resistant to chemicals and cleaning agents. This makes thesde films the ideal solution for a wide range of industrial and graphic applications.
The König Film Centre offers you this film with different surface structures. While Bayfol CR 1-4 is polished on one side and fine matt on the other, Bayfol CR 6-2 has a matt surface on both sides. We offer Bayfol products in thicknesses from 175 µm to 375 µm in rolls. The roll length differs depending on the thickness. On request, we can cut rolls for you into rectangular sheets in the desired format.
We are pleased to advise you during the planning stage of your project and send you data sheets, safety data sheets and samples for the construction of prototypes. Tell us the format you require and we will immediately prepare an attractive offer for you. We cut and deliver all products in stock within a few working days.
Properties of chemical resistant polycarbonate films
Bayfol films from Covestro are a high-quality extrusion film made from polycarbonate (PC) and polyester. Bayfol® CR is characterized by an increased resistance to chemicals, dynamic strength and high flexibility. The films are particularly resistant to chemicals and can be cleaned even with aggressive cleaning agents. The colourless films are known for their excellent graphic quality and make them the solution for high-end applications.
In summary, they have the following properties:
- increased chemical resistance.
- good heat resistance.
- high stability and flexibility (also over a wide temperature range).
- electrical insulation capacity and good electrical properties.
- cold and hot formable.
excellent printability with standard colours using screen printing and digital printing processes
Use and areas of application
The properties of Bayfol® CR polycarbonate film make it resistant to chemicals. It is the ideal material for the production of long-lasting and resistant membrane switches, nameplates, buttons and control panels.
Processing
This film made of PC and PBT has excellent cold and hot forming properties. The material is suitable for high-pressure forming (HPF) processes and has been established in film insert moulding (FIM) for many years. Bayfol® films can be printed in brilliant colours using screen printing and offset printing with commercially available inks that are suitable for polycarbonate.
No special accessories or tools are required to process the film.
FAQ
What are chemical-resistant PC-PBT films?
Chemical-resistant PC-PBT films are high-quality extruded films made from a blend of polycarbonate (PC) and polyester (PBT). They are characterised by their particular resistance to chemicals, cleaning agents and mechanical stress and are suitable for long-lasting industrial and graphic applications.
What material are chemical-resistant PC-PBT films made from?
These films consist of a mixture of polycarbonate (PC) and polyester (PBT). This blend combines high toughness, scratch resistance and flexibility with excellent chemical resistance.
What are the characteristics of chemical-resistant PC-PBT films?
They have increased chemical resistance, scratch resistance, high heat resistance, good cold and hot formability, elasticity over a wide temperature range and excellent printability for screen and digital printing.
What are the typical applications of chemical-resistant PC-PBT films?
Typical applications include membrane switches, nameplates, keypads and control panels. Thanks to their scratch and chemical resistance, they are also used in the automotive industry and for durable graphic elements.
In what thicknesses and formats are chemical-resistant PC-PBT films available?
The films are available in thicknesses from 175 µm to 375 µm and are supplied in rolls or in cut-to-size formats. Roll lengths vary depending on thickness, and cut-to-size formats can be produced in rectangular shapes according to customer requirements.
How can chemical-resistant PC-PBT films be processed?
The films are cold and hot formable, suitable for high-pressure forming and film insert moulding. They can be printed with standard screen and offset printing inks without special tools or accessories.
What surface variants are available for chemical-resistant PC-PBT films?
Bayfol® CR 1-4 films are polished on one side and finely matted on the other, while Bayfol® CR 6-2 films are finely matted on both sides. The natural translucent colour ensures high graphic quality.
Why are chemical-resistant PC-PBT films particularly durable?
Their combination of chemical resistance, toughness, scratch resistance and heat resistance makes them extremely resistant to mechanical and chemical stress, even with intensive use over a long period of time.
