PMMA films in sheets

Röhm Plexiglas® 99524
PLEXIGLAS® 99524 is a UV and weather resistant acrylic PMMA film with two polished sides. The highly transparent film has an outstanding clarity and a graphic surface finish. Due to its glossy and very smooth surface Plexiglas® 99524 is recommended for high quality printing. The film shows very good characteristics via slitting and laser cutting. A protection film on both sides prevents scratches. PLEXIGLAS® 99524 is available in the thickness of 1,0 mm and is offered in sheets.

PMMA film in sheets
The König Film Centre offers high-quality PMMA films of the Plexiglas brand as sheets. Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) film is extremely UV and weather resistant. Due to the addition of the plastic polybutyl acrylate (PBA) as an impact modifier, the films are easy to cut and to process by laser.
PMMA film sheets are either absolutely crystal clear or milky white and has a high-gloss surface in both versions. The colourless qualities have particularly good light transmission properties. They have a high resistance to weathering and abrasion and are absolutely colourless. The white films achieve excellent light diffusion effects through the use of diffuser beads.
We will be happy to advise you from the planning of your project to the subsequent production phase. We can provide you with technical data sheets and samples for the production of prototypes or tests. We can supply you with PMMA film in sheets in the format you require. Please contact us, we are looking forward to your request!
Properties of PMMA sheets
The most important advantage of Plexiglas films in sheets is its excellent UV stability and weather resistance. Other important properties are
- hard and scratch resistant surface
- easy to form
- ideal and constant printability (screen, digital, gravure and flexo printing)
- impact modified
- good resistance to weak acids and alkalis as well as non-polar solvents
- impact resistance
- unique optical properties and transmission
- excellent light scattering effects with the white PLEXIGLAS® films
Processing of PMMA film sheets
Compared to other technical films, PMMA films (material polymethyl methacrylate) in sheets can be cut excellently with a laser into desired formats and contours. This does not cause any damage or burn the film on the edges of the material.
The material PMMA in sheets can be cut, sawn, drilled, and bent with common tools and accessories without any risk of breakage.
PMMA films (Plexiglas films) are ideal for forming and deep-drawing, can be back-injected and are ideal for printing.
Applications / Use
The white branded film Plexiglas 99532 impresses with its homogeneous diffusion of light. This makes the PMMA film the ideal solution for a wide range of applications in lighting technology and the lighting industry and the following applications:
- Diffusion of LED light
- Backlit displays
- Backlit switches
- Lamps and lampshades
- Interior parts for automobiles
The colourless and crystal clear polished film Plexiglas 99524 as sheet is characterised by an enormously high light transmission. Compared to thinner films in rolls, the sheet material guarantees excellent flatness. Another advantage of the plastic sheet material in 750 µm or 1 mm thickness is its flexibility and formability combined with high resilience and robustness.

FAQ
What are PMMA sheets?
PMMA sheets are flat sheets made of polymethyl methacrylate that offer high transparency, UV resistance and impact strength. They are suitable for lighting technology, backlit displays and decorative applications where flatness and optical quality are crucial.
What material are PMMA sheets made of?
PMMA sheets are made of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), also known as acrylic glass or Plexiglas, and are often modified with polybutyl acrylate (PBA) for impact resistance. This plastic is robust, UV-stable, scratch-resistant and easy to shape.
What are the characteristics of PMMA sheets?
PMMA sheets are characterised by excellent UV and weather resistance, high light transmission, scratch-resistant surfaces, impact resistance, formability and outstanding light diffusion effects. They are easy to print, laser and machine.
What are the typical applications of PMMA sheets?
PMMA sheets are used for LED light diffusion, backlit displays, displays, lamps, lampshades and automotive interior parts. Crystal-clear sheets guarantee flatness and light transmission, while white sheets offer excellent light diffusion.
In what thicknesses and formats are PMMA sheets available?
PMMA sheets are available in thicknesses from 0.5 mm to 1 mm. They are supplied as sheets in customised sizes and standard widths up to approximately 1250 mm.
What surface variants are available for PMMA sheets?
PMMA sheets are available in polished, crystal clear or white opal finishes. Polished sheets offer high transparency, while white sheets provide excellent light diffusion thanks to diffuser beads.
How can PMMA sheets be processed?
PMMA sheets can be sawn, drilled, milled, bent, laser cut and deep-drawn. They offer clean edges, high flatness and low risk of breakage, making them ideal for prototypes and series production.
