Fluoropolymer films

Our FEP, PFA and ETFE films are genuine high-performance materials for particularly demanding applications. These fluoropolymer products are sold under the original Teflon™ and Tefzel™ brand and are made by the American manufacturer Chemours.

Fluoropolymers are a low-friction thermoplastic that are used for the manufacture of performance products. These products provide superior protection against corrosive chemicals, extreme temperatures, and harsh conditions, making them ideal for applications requiring robust and reliable performance. Outstanding nonstick properties and a low coefficient of friction on the surface make fluoropolymer films an ideal release film for many applications. Their excellent dielectric strength and low dissipation factor make them valuable for electrical insulation applications.

In our range of fluoropolymer films, we offer FEP, PFA and ETFE films of the original Teflon™ and Tefzel™brand. All materials are thermoplastics, i.e. plastics that can be easily deformed within a certain thermal range.

FEP films with non-stick surface:

FEP is an abbreviation for fluorinated ethylene propylene. These versatile films are used for industrial applications primarily because of their non-stick properties, as other materials adhere very poorly to the surface of FEP films.

Another benefit of the FEP film product is its thermal stability. FEP films can be used at high temperature from - 240 to + 205 degrees Celsius. This clearly distinguishes FEP film from most other plastic films.

PFA films with high temperature resistance up to 260 degrees Celsius

PFA films consist of perfluoroalkoxy polymers and are a sister polymer of FEP. These products combine the chemical properties of PTFE with the mechanical benefits of thermoplastics and were developed to specifically improve some of the properties of FEP films. They are fully fluorinated performance plastics that offer maximum durability under extreme production conditions.

Compared to FEP products, PFA films are even more stable to heat and can be used for applications with temperatures of up to 260 degrees Celsius. This product therefore is the ideal solution for all applications that have to withstand particularly high temperature.

Tefzel™ ETFE films with lower weight and high transparency

Ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer (ETFE) combines the technical, mechanical and chemical properties of Teflon™ films with those of polyethylene (PE). Compared to Teflon™, ETFE films are characterised by a much lower specific weight (density), an excellent transparency, a strong light transmission and a better rigidity. On the other side, the heat resistance of ETFE is lower and the anti-slip properties do not match those of Teflon™. Like all fluoropolymer films ETFE is free from plasticisers.

Processing of fluoropolymer films

FEP (fluorinated ethylene propylene) films, PFA and ETFE products can be processed in a variety of ways. The clear fluoropolymer products can be processed as follows:

• etching

All fluoropolymer FEP products are resistant to chemicals and can be easily cleaned.

The manufacturer Chemours offers all films with a special coating on one or both sides. This coating allows adhesives or adhesive tapes to adhere to the film in order to make it self-adhesive.
